Settings and Presettings

Last change: Sep 27, 2022

When creating a new file (regardless of whether it is a small G1/G2/G3 exercise, an NC program in the simulator or a workplan), you are offered the option of specifying "Advanced settings".

In the G1/G2/G3 exercise (module "DIN/PAL") these are only the file name, the optional comment line and the starting point of the subsequently programmed line graphics.

In the DIN or PAL Simulator, in the mode (Control) Simulators or Workplan, however, you will always have to adjust settings here if you do not want to work with the same blanks and tools all the time. If you miss to do this at the beginning and - with F10 - automatically "land" in the main menu point F2 Edit with F1 Create, F2 Modify, F3 Delete ... you can always return to this dialog with F10 Back to Main Menu > F1 File > F2 Settings and change these settings. Afterwards F2 Edit takes you back to the editor, where you can test the simulation with the changed tools or the changed blank etc. and continue programming.

For almost all "Settings" there are also "Presettings", which you can define in the F8 Setup mode via F4 System configuration > F1 Presettings. Here you then first select the operating mode that you are currently concerned with and then F2 Modify. In the case of the DIN or PAL simulator, you then use F1 to F6 to select the mode (basic, PAL, PAL2020, with or without additional axes, ...) for which you want to define new presettings. In the case of a (Control) Simulator, you will see a list of simulators for which you have a license. If this is more than one, first select the desired name (e.g. FANUC 0i-MC, HAAS or SINUMERIK 808D) and then select F2 Change again.

It makes sense to adjust presetttings if you usually work with a certain magazine or turret assignment or if you usually use a certain material in your workplans. This always saves you a few clicks or keystrokes when you later create a new layout.
